What was once a shameful secret is now a celebrated badge of honor. I wear something leather every day of my life. You can be a bottom and dominant. Leather gear for motorcyclists has continued to be readily available since the 1940’s, leather gear provides protection. Finding the strength in my submission and my service has given me a sense of worth that i have never experienced.
What leather has taught me is to be brave and stand out in the crowd and to always live my truth. Meeting leather men and women from around the globe at the store and at leather runs around the country has helped me delve deeper and find so much love and camaraderie in this community.

I came out as a gay man when I was 25… and it has taken me this long to feel where I fit in the world.
We thank the elders in the BIPOC Leather Community for paving the way for us to exist. Other than consent, there are no rules or correct ways to do leather. Leathermen of age are welcoming to newer generations, passing on both their journey and what they’ve learned from those before them as well as the skins they wear, which is a sign of continuity and a vibrant and ongoing community.
From the very first time that I picked up a camera, photography has been a powerful catharsis for a myriad of emotional and psychological issues. Boots can be purchased from local retail stores where they can be tried on to ensure a correct fit, or from on-line retailers (keep in mind that sizes vary between manufactures).
Casual leather attire or gear:
Casual leather is typically worn at leather bars, festivals, club events and other informal activities.
They will define the 21st century look, as leather evolves and blends with rubber and neoprene, each with their own story and their own journey. During the mid-1970 faded snug fitting jeans became popular in both the leather and general gay men’s community and continue to be popular. In Europe leather pants are typically worn, leather pants have become more popular in the U.
S. in recent years. Leather shorts are now an option for casual wear. Traditionally a jock can be worn underneath if needed, but not underwear.
In some parts of the country black cowboy boots are also worn.
Boots can be oil-tanned with a matte finish, or smooth-finished with a polished satin or a glossy finish. But me being here in this space reminds people that leather is everywhere, within everyone. That project was an effort to explore people’s alter egos.
Just as I did with my identity as a gay man and a bear, I did just about everything I could to avoid being open about it and kept that part of me stifled. You can switch between these roles in whatever way you desire. Muir cap crowns the head and as worn hands slide into gloves, a man is transformed, the reckoning of a Leatherman.
To be a Leatherman is to be an individual within a collective.
Being durable and long-lasting, leather has created waves in the international fashion market, with its exclusive range of designs and styles. Today leather shops are available on most major U. S. cities, some also sell online. That is why I love leather.

The emerging protocol also defined how Masters/Sirs and boys/submissives dress in leather settings helping leathermen express their identity and level of experience. It’s given me such immediate access to so many incredible people, places and things.
