Gently waving up from the ground, GOe will be a good neighbor and citizen in San Sebastian, offering a window into global gastronomic discovery while creating new public spaces, plazas, parks, and views."

Replacing the 1950s State Opera building on Dammtorstraße, the new 45,000-m2 Hamborg State Opera responds to the city’s need for a modern house that meets contemporary acoustic, spatial, and technical standards.

This shift not only opens the university to the adjacent Charles Village, but it also sets the stage for future development along this corridor. In doing so, it frames the contemporary gardens, making them an integral part of the exhibition, as significant as the artwork within.

The Suzhou Museum of Contemporary Art was recognized as a national landmark in China in June 2024, when it was featured on an official postage stamp issued by China Post to celebrate the successful development of Suzhou Industrial Park and the urban landscape around Jinji Lake.

The Bloomberg Student Center is a 150,000-sq-ft, cascading village of timber pavilions that stands as the new hub of student life at Johns Hopkins University.

The geometry of the roof is generated as a wedge of a sphere, resulting in a massing that reads as a single gesture. The building greets visitors from the highway with a vertical façade, while on the city side, the roof creates sheltered canopies extending the foyer into a human-scaled public landscape.

CAMPUS LIVING ROOM — All spaces connect back to the central Campus Living Room, an inclusive melting pot for student life and a crossroad for campus connectivity.

CityWave’s dramatic timber canopy with steel cables stretches 140 m – longer than a football field. Its nodular logic only becomes distinctly discernible when seen from the gondolas above. The result is a manmade maze of plants and artworks to get lost within. It is envisioned as an extension of the surrounding canopy of foliage.

The topping out, celebrated during Salone del Mobile Milano, marks a significant milestone in the evolution of one of Europe’s most ambitious redevelopment projects.

Designed by BIG–Bjarke Ingels Group with Atelier Verticale, CityWave is constructed on the last two plots of the CityLife masterplan, a major new business district in a prestigious area of Milan, within walking distance from the Duomo.

This axis is maintained in the CityLife masterplan as a visual connection and further enhanced by the underground metro. Individual pavilions are woven together by glazed galleries and porticoes, creating a Chinese knot of interconnected sculpture courtyards and exhibition spaces.

PROGRAM SPLIT — The volume is rotated and separated into three individual buildings occupying the site surrounding the Ferris Wheel.

THE GIFT — We propose connecting the two buildings in the non-buildable area with a canopy, joining the two separate buildings into a unified solution. The new building rises from the ground floor, utilizing the height difference to preserve and enhance the existing park qualities at the site.

Rather than proposing two towers, we envision two courtyard buildings defined not by their height, but by connection - bridging the scale between the neighborhood and central towers. We envision the '廊,' a traditional element of Suzhou gardens, gracefully winding through the landscapes and transforming into pavilions.

Four distinct buildings are interconnected to form a gathering space for visitors and locals, as well as a resting point for walkers along the 13-km Jinji Lake trail.

The pavilion is one of the eleven permanent pavilions developed as part of the city’s initiative to create a vibrant and welcoming waterfront.

"The Jinji Lake Pavilion is conceived as a family of public rooms arranged under a single unifying canopy.

The Backbone of GOe — The Gastro Hall is the backbone of the GOe, running from the entrance all the way to the roof. From the city side, the PV-covered roof hovers above a new public forecourt that extends the urban fabric to the river.

The Mountain consists of three radically different experiences: The Mount Everest façade, the colorful parking cathedral, and the mountain of gardens.

From the street, the urban façade encloses the parking.
